2010 Alaska Picnic
This year’s picnic was great fun topped off with great food along the beautiful Eagle River! We were blessed with a diverse community turn-out of at least 65 people that included our dynamic and inspirational Latino community. Young and young-at-heart all joined in the excitement to play tug-o-war, run egg balancing races, zig-zag through obstacle courses, and match paces with their partners on the three-legged races under the beautiful warm sunny sky. Then it was time for the piñata!
After hot dogs and cheese burgers, chips, and all the yummy picnic side dishes, we enjoyed ice cream, cup cakes, and piñata candy. Then, when we went to hand out the prize candy for all winners and participants, we had a surprise guest! Who could distract a crowd away from their prizes? A moose! It appeared across the river, then swam over to our side (though not too close) before ambling off.
It was a really blessed good time! Thanks to everyone who brought food and a festive spirit! BIG thanks to everyone who made clean up a breeze!
